The book was great, had a great concept and a neat little ending twist that I liked. I wish I had seen it sooner. The book was easy to read, and only a novella so not very long. If you like zombie stories I suggest adding this book to your collection. For the first book the Z-Minus was a countdown until the main character Chris Smith, became a zombie.
There are a few things I want to note about indiscrepancies within the book. Bubonic Plague or Y. pestis does not have a 100% mortality rate, nor is has it died out as the book states. Another is the starting of the Porsche without having to press the clutch (the car is explained as having a manual transmission). Of course this is just nitpicking.
The last thing that bothered me about the book was the use of another book World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War as the Bible for surviving and general knowledge of the zombie apocalypse. The problem is I haven’t read World War Z, it is on my list of books to read, but I’ve not tackled it yet. So now I feel like need to read World War Z so I know what information is in that book that the characters in Z-Minus 1 know.
All in all, I still liked it and yes I want and will read the other two books in the series.
EDIT: After reading a few of the other reviews I decided to add more to my own. You aren’t supposed to like the main character. That was one of the things that I liked about the novella. I looked forward to seeing the main character turn, he -deserved- it.
