Review: The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was another one of those books where I saw the movie and decided to read the book to see if the book could shed more insight into the movie. They both were equally ambiguous about different things. The movie gave no explanation to the world events outside the maze. The book at least explained what ‘The Flare’ was. Reading the book and watching the movie sort of explained things together. I’m curious about the rest of the series but only because of my curiosity towards why the kids are being treated this way. I never really got attached to any of the characters. When the telepathy happened, I almost stopped reading. It was convenient telepathy was convenient. I suppose I kept waiting for a big reveal at the end that didn’t happen. I might read the next book but it’ll probably be awhile before I pick it up.
