Dream 2/6/17

What better dream than a Doctor Who/Warcraft Crossover?

The dream was so good I intent to make it into Fan Fiction and start outlining it. It won’t be World of Warcraft in it though.

I dreamed I was the Doctor’s Companion and in love with him and it was the 10th Doctor. Now I’ve began to flesh out parts already to make my dream more sensible. I only dreamed that we were sent by a king whose lands were under siege by an evil force to a small desolate village to retrieve some sort of artifact that had been hidden there to save the kingdom. We did not take the TARDIS to the remote village in the mountains, we went by carriage, along with a small company of royal soldiers to protect us. The night we arrive the Doctor becomes sick, passes out and is feverish and delirious. We get him into a bed (the villagers are extremely wary of us and the soldiers) and won’t talk to us, or help us with our “quest,” they say the king abandoned them when their village fell ill (in my dream it was Smallpox but considering the time period the dream took place in, it could’ve been Black Plague) and would not send them any help, so they won’t help the king.

Over the course of the night, a blizzard hits, and the Doctor and I and this small company of soldiers are trapped in the village because the pass we came through it blocked with snow. The next morning the Doctor is out of the bed, looking for his clothes, saying we need to help the king, and find the artifact, but he’s not any better. He’s still sick. I try to tell him we can’t leave even if we had the artifact, because we were snowed in. We didn’t bring the “special blue carriage,” I was trying not to alarm the peasants. Because our modern clothes and the way we spoke, and the Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver, they were already claiming we were wizards and didn’t trust us more than as if we were normal outsiders.

I’m having a hard time convincing him to get back into the bed. He’s feverish, sweating, shivering, babbling nonsense half of the time. I’m really worried about him, and since he’s not human, I have no idea how to treat him (since the medicine is basically 14th or 16th century) other than just rest, liquids, and soup. I hug him and whisper into his ear I love him and that if he dies, I’ll die too.

(Then the phone rang and I woke up.)

As far as fleshing it out and complete spoiler, we get summoned via a message from a clockwork raven, that the Doctor built (during a previous incarnation) and gave as a gift to the king (who will be the grandfather of the king in my dream). The king’s dowager aunt is the one summoning the evil (I’m thinking demonic shadows or something) because she wants the throne for her daughter. (King’s cousin.)

We arrive, discover the kingdom in turmoil, get sent to get the artifact (I’ve no idea what the artifact is at the moment) and though the Doctor becomes ill, it isn’t a sickness but he’s being poisoned by an agent of the dowager queen who traveled with us.

Dream 1/15/17

So I dreamed the zombie apocalypse happened and had happened several years or even generations ago. There was a legend that someone had discovered a way to reverse the zombie plague (turn zombies back into people) so a group of people research the person who created the cure, and then much like a zombie DaVinci Code discover where the guy hid the cure or rather where the instructions to the cure were hidden. So the group of people sacrifice everything, even not worrying about companions being bitten because once they get the cure, they’ll be able to turn people back.

So they find the final resting place of the cure (a public bathroom hidden in the toilet paper dispenser) and open the container that should contain the instructions for the cure. It is in fact instructions on how to build an ark to save humanity. (I dunno if it was to send humanity to another planet or just put them in cryostasis and wait until the zombies die off.) See the legend began as this guy had a way to save humanity and over time people thought it was the cure for the zombie plague.

Dream 1/14/17

Dreamed the Sims was a VR type world (think the movie 13th floor) where you could walk among and interact with your sims. Well I told my favorite sim, a middle aged black man, that I was a player and him and his world were just a computer simulated game. He referred to me as the Creator. I grant him immortality and that causes him to become obsessed with death and the death of the sims in his town. He collects their obituaries. He meets a young girl, and befriends her, but she realizes eventually as she grows up that he doesn’t age and begins to think he is Death because of his noticeable obsession with it. My favorite sim falls in love with her and wants me to grant her immortality so they can be together. I inform him it was a one time gift.

We travel back and forth in time and we notice that his computer simulated world is going to end in an apocalypse (I think a meteor was going to hit). My favorite sim asks me to travel back to the present, grab the girl he’s also fallen in love with, and bring her to the future and put her on this rocket I created that was sending the sims to colonize another virtual planet or something. Even though the apocalypse was not going to happen during her lifetime, my favorite sim wanted her on this rocket. So I oblige and she wants my favorite sim to come with her.

And I woke up.

Martha Stewart, We Have Very Different Tastes

Once again a food post. I made this:

Three Bean Pasta Salad

It looked like this:

I served it with a BLT sandwich that was divine. However I followed the recipe according to directions, tasted it (cause you’re supposed to salt and pepper to taste) and all I could taste was red wine vinegar, which tasted like wine gone over (which is what happens to wine when it spoils, it becomes vinegar) and was awful. So I doubled the amount of mustard and honey which made the salad better. My other alternative was to try to rinse off the pasta and beans and just pour over it my favorite Italian dressing. Sadly the best thing about this salad was the celery.

I Have Better Things to Do With Salami

So I made this:

Tasted like a cream cheese and mustard that smelled like salami.
So I made a second sandwich from an old hors d’oeuvre recipe that was much better. I don’t have photos of it. It didn’t last long enough.
The old hors d’oeuvre recipe is hard salami, cream cheese and sweet gherkins. Most people take the salami, spread cream cheese on it, then wrap it around a sweet gherkin. I slice my gherkin into half so the pickle doesn’t overpower everything else.
So I decided to make this into a sandwich. I spread the cream cheese on the sandwich, placed the gherkins, sliced of course to lay flat, and then added salami. It was almost divine, however my husband and I decided to next time to make a spread of the cream cheese and chopped gherkins and that way.

Why This Won’t Be a Food Blog

After having a bag of Gardetto’s, water, and a paperback novel for lunch I decided I wanted to try to take my lunch to work because I don’t want to get too burned out too quickly on White Castles (my favorite fast food other than Taco Bell).

However… I’m a really lousy cook and not to mention a picky eater. I usually don’t try new foods because I don’t want to be grossed out. There are also foods I don’t like such as salmon (way too many salmon patties as a kid) or avocado. I’ll eat guacamole, but only if I have to (such as my Mexican food has it already on it.) I don’t like hummus (tastes like creamed tortilla chips to me.)

I googled easy work lunch ideas and most were tuna salad variations, egg salad variations, some salads I would never want to try. Like this one:

Cherry Almond Farro Salad

What is farro? The salad looks like rice crispies with cherries in it. However there were some things I’m willing to try, such as a mashed chickpea salad, and a tuna cabbage salad. So I went ahead and picked out 4 or was it 5 new recipes, one being a pasta and bean salad, to try for lunches at work. The problem is I need to try them before taking them as a work lunch. I’d hate to make my lunch and find it tasted awful and I end up having White Castles anyway. Starting tomorrow I’ll try and taste a recipe from the ones I’ve found that appeal to me. All the recipes are on my Pinterest Board: Recipes to Try
