Since I hadn’t seen the Freddy movies since I was a teen and couldn’t remember the plots of them (they were all the same really, Freddy terrorized teens while they slept and somehow they managed to do away with him at the end of every episode) but I simply chose 5 because it was before my favorite one: Wes Craven’s New Nightmare.
This Freddy movie had to do with his child getting him out of the original starting city where he was burned. It was as cheesy as I remembered it. Freddy was more prankster than scary by this movie. He still killed everyone, but it wasn’t by what scared them the most.
On a side note of the movie watching I forgot the Resident Evil and Species franchises and wondered what equalled a franchise, more than 3 movies?
According to critics this movie was the worst one. I’ve seen the first movie only of this series and I thought the first movie was rather dumb. I consider myself a cult classic horror movie connoisseur (as in my tastes are often opposite of the critics).
This movie is Paranormal Activity 6: The Ghost Dimension, and I hadn’t even realized that there were 6 movies. I was certain TGD was number 4 or something. PA has almost as many movies as Star Trek and Star Wars.
PA:TGD was all jump scares, but that was basically all the other movies, but I think I was more impressed with the camera being able to see the paranormal activity, and how cool and trippy everything looked in this movie.
I do have to point out that the last 15 minutes of this movie became an episode of Supernatural minus Sam & Dean. If Sam & Dean had been there, they’d have probably solved this problem in 30 minutes.
Even though I already made my list I realized I had forgotten about one of my favorite franchises when I was a kid. CRITTERS! So instead of watching The Hollow, I’ll watch one of the Critters movies. The list is apt to morph and change between now and October.
I love the idea of watching a horror movie everyday in October. The problem is choosing which movies to watch.
I decided I wanted to watch the worst movie of each of the franchises. The problem is I often don’t know which is the worst. Some are flat out obvious. Prometheus, but actually I was considering Alien 3 because it really gets no love or hate for that matter anymore. In the coming years I want to do a month of horror movies I’ve never seen before (a lot of movies on my list I’ve seen multiple times or our my favorites.) One year do all creature feature, all slasher films another, all hauntings, all space horror.. One year of all my favorite horror movies.
2016’s Horror Movie List (Not listed in the order of watching and most are the franchise name because I don’t know which is considered the worst yet.)
- Friday the 13th
- Child’s Play
- Nightmare on Elm St.
- Paranormal Activity (This one will be The Ghost Dimension because that is actually the one I want to see.)
- Night of the Living Dead
- Children of the Corn
- The Darkness
- Jeepers Creepers
- Valentine’s Day
- The Babadook
- From Dusk til Dawn
- Dead Snow
- Killer Clowns from Outer Space
- Grave Encounters
- The Hollow
So leave a comment on which of the franchise movie (not all movies listed are franchises) you think is the worst and if I forgot a franchise also let me know.
I’m tired of blogging about depressing topics, like how crappy my job is. (Which is funny because I used to be proud of my job and proud of the company I work for. I just asked a new hire how much he makes and he says $8.10. I make $7.75!)
So I decided that with it becoming September I would attempt in October once again the 31 Days of Horror! I even still have the old banner I made for last year. I haven’t decided on the movies yet, definitely going to watch at least 1 Alien movie, 1 Predator movie, Bait (with the sharks), a Sharknado, and maybe a Friday the 13th, a Leprechaun, a Nightmare on Elm street, a Halloween, at least one of all the classic, maybe a Scream, and maybe whatever else Netflix throws at me. I enjoy good horror movies that make me want to sleep with the lights on, and bad horror movies that make me make fun of them. I will watch Valentine’s Day with Jensen Ackles (I actually own it and never watched it.) So already I have 10 movies picked out, just need 21 more. I will live tweet the movies, you can follow me at @ExtrovertAlone and heckle me if you wish. Also suggestions for movies are welcome. I will also have a review of each movie after watching it.
I’m really looking forward to this again. It is a shame that last year I didn’t get to complete it.
